Atomic Models Powerpoint

This is a continuation of Friday's computer period

For this activity you will be creating a powerpoint in pairs based on the information you found. You need to create at least 6 slides (one for each scientist and then title slide and anything else you would like to add).

You must finish this activity by the end of the period!!

This powerpoint will have the following information on each slide:

Name of Scientist
Date lived (you will need to google this)
Diagram of model
What does the diagram show about the structure of an atom?
What doesn't the diagram show (i.e what is wrong with the model)

The following are pictures of the different atomic models to help you make your powerpoint.

Atomic Structure Webquest

In this webquest you will be researching different models of the atom and the scientists who thought of them.

Go to: Shared drive/10PM Science 2011

You will work in pairs for this task

Each person in the pair will research a different group of scientists

Using the links below and the word document you will find on the shared drive, click on the links and fill out the sheet with the information required.

(This site has images of each of the models plus who described them first)

You will be using this information on Tuesday when you will create a powerpoint outlining the different atomic models and their pro's and con's

Human Genetics Webquest

Introduction

There are thousands of genetic disorders that affect humans, some of which can have profound effects on a person's quality of life. Genetic disorders are passed from parents to offspring in the genetic code, and in some cases, a person may be a carrier for a disease and pass it to their children without knowing. Because genetic diseases are usually caused by errors or mutations in the genetic code, it is extremely difficult to cure the condition, and in most cases, doctors can only treat the symptoms. In this webquest, you will explore a genetic disease and create a poster about your disease.
